Padang, sumbarsatu.com—A joint team of doctors from PDFMI (Indonesian Forensic and Medicolegal Doctors Association) released the results of the exhumation of Afif Maulana's body. The PDFMI team of doctors said that Afif Maulana died not because of torture but because he fell from a bridge at a height of 14.7 meters. The medical team said 19 samples were examined.
Due to this release, the family accompanied by LBH Padang did not fully believe the release of the results of the exhumation or autopsy of the two bodies of Afif Maulana's children who were found dead under the Kuranji Bridge, Padang City, West Sumatra, some time ago. They also asked for a copy of the examination results of all samples.
"We can't copy it in full. We want details of the 19 samples. Of course we want to know which samples were (yesterday's). Because it was explained at that time, it's possible that not all the samples could be read in the lab. We want to report this as per samples," said Indira Suryani, Director of LBH Padang, in a statement to journalists, Thursday (26/9/2024).
According to Indira, the family was the one who was hurt, because they didn't get the true story. He said the family felt devastated by the results delivered by the PDFMI team of doctors.
"We want this to be cleared up. We want to be given the results of the autopsy of this exhusmasi immediately, in writing," said Indira Suryani.
"The family agreed that they would fight and find out what happened to Afif, and what happened to the violence marks on the front of his body, and why Afif was on the bridge," he added.
Apart from copies of the autopsy examination and exhumation, they also urged the police to hand over all related CCTV footage.
"We (will) urge the police even harder to hand over all the promises they have made. Be it CCTV footage, autopsy copies and exhumation copies," he said.
LBH Padang will take various further legal steps. "We are still working on various legal steps that we will take in the future. From the start, we realized that it was difficult to uncover cases of torture like this. Even those with videos are difficult, especially those that don't exist, like Afif's case. "We understand the situation and we want to make very serious efforts," explained Indira Suryani.
Meanwhile, Afrinaldi, Afif Maulana's father, stated that he was dissatisfied and disappointed with the results of the doctor's autopsy and said there was something odd about his son's death.
"The results of this exhumation were not what I expected because the team of doctors did not fully convey what was happening to my child's body," said Afrinaldi.
He admitted that he had not received an explanation for the scars he saw with his own eyes on the stomach and chest of his beloved son.
"Yesterday I also wanted to know whether the front part had injured the heart or what, and because of what, but it was not explained. "I am dissatisfied and disappointed," said the man.
Previously, a team of forensic doctors finally revealed the results of the second exhumation and autopsy on Afif's body which was carried out in early August. The team of doctors concluded that the victim's death was due to injuries sustained when he fell from a height.
The head of the joint forensic doctor team, Ade Firmansyah Sugiharto, said that the death of a junior high school student in Padang City was caused by injuries sustained when he fell from a height.
Ade said that his party reached this conclusion after analyzing the results of the exhumation, autopsy, examination of the location where the body was found, as well as related documents from LBH Padang and LPSK.
From the results of the examination, there were a number of wounds found on Afif Maulana's body. The details include injuries to the left arm, left thigh, back of the head, back, spine and brain tissue.
"We carried out an exhumation examination at M Djaml Hospital. The next day we carried out research at the location, we got all the documents, we analyzed them. Based on these analyses, we concluded that his death was a result of a fall from a height," said Ade to journalists at the Police Headquarters. Padang, Wednesday (25/9/2024).
Doctor Ade explained that when the spinal cord is injured, the person cannot move. When a person falls and falls, the spinal cord is pulled, causing the person to be unable to move.
